Diploma in Electrical Technology

Purpose overview
This program has been designed to meet the training requirement of the local labor market, based on the national and international professional standards to develop the competencies in an individual to work as an electrical technician. The main skills that are covered in this training program are; installation and troubleshooting of electrical wiring (domestic and industrial), control panel wiring and installation, industrial automation and controls, operation and control of hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, maintenance of electrical appliances and power connection, industrial health and safety, interpretation of electrical drawings, interpersonal and communication skills.
Intended Learning Outcomes
After the completion of this Qualification the trainees are expected to be able to:
- Apply the core concepts of electrical to install and troubleshoot the electrical wiring for domestic and industrial applications.
- Apply the electronic component knowledge to test and troubleshoot the basic faults of electronic cards and equipment.
- Perform Soldering and de-Soldering task of electronic components.
- Interpret the nameplate information to configure and control the AC/DC machines.
- Interpret electrical drawings to install and troubleshoot control panel wiring of machines for industrial automation and control.
- Interpret circuit diagrams to set up pneumatic components to control actuators through solenoid valves, switches, relays and sensors.
- Able to make measuring, marking, cutting and aligning prior to the welding process.
- Perform mathematical calculations related to engineering.
- Apply the Physics concept and laws to learn and progress in the Electrical Field.
- Organize files & folders and use Microsoft office applications for creating documentations for their academic and professional requirements.
- Interact with people within the industry/field.
- Describe an industry related situation to someone who is entitled for that
- Explain about relevant equipment and their usages in the concerned work ambience
- Identify different vocabulary and expressions from an English conversation that are commonly used in the Engineering field.
Entry Requirement
- Students who are having Secondary School Certificate with minimum 80% marks
- Age 18-22 years
- Pass Admission test and interview
