Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Launches 450 Trainees into the Workforce

His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, sponsored the graduation ceremony of 450 trainees from the Food Industries Polytechnic for the period 2020–2022, held in Al-Kharj Governorate. The event was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Engineer Osama bin Abdulaziz Al-Zamil, the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Dr. Hisham Al-Jadhey, Al-Kharj Governor, Mr. Musaad bin Abdullah Al-Madhi, and several CEOs of food sector companies.

The Minister emphasized the vital role of human capital in advancing the plans to elevate the industrial sector across its various activities. He stressed the importance of having specialized and rare skill sets that align with labor market demands. He praised the high competency and enthusiasm displayed by the graduates, which will contribute significantly to enhancing food manufacturing quality in Saudi factories.

Al-Khorayef commended the strategic transformation of the Food Industries Polytechnic, which aims to localize technical and specialized roles in the food manufacturing sector by equipping qualified graduates with professional skills that meet industry and market needs. He encouraged food sector companies to leverage the Polytechnic’s capabilities and the quality of its graduates.

The ceremony included a tour during which the Minister met several trainees, reviewed key programs, and honored outstanding trainees and companies that contributed to supporting workforce localization in the food sector.

The Food Industries Polytechnic graduated 450 trainees across three main specializations and five sub-specializations, including Food Production Technologies—comprising diplomas in Bakery Production and Juice and Dairy Production—Farm Technologies, and Maintenance, which covers heavy and light equipment and vehicles, as well as electrical and air conditioning systems.

The Food Industries Polytechnic is one of the programs under the National Center for Strategic Partnerships, a collaboration between the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and Almarai Company, supported by the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).
